Jacksonville Sprinters Hit Their Stride At USF Meet

Tampa, Fla. - The Jacksonville University men's track and field team made their 2000 outdoor debut this weekend at the South Florida Winter Classic hosted by USF. Leading the way for the Dolphins were a group of sprinters that dominated the short sprints.

Jon Underhill (6.90), Boshaw Mack (6.94), Brenton Alexander (6.98) and Mario Wood (6.99) took 2nd through fifth respectively in the 60 meter dash behind Norman Brown's (unattached) 6.82. Mack (22.35) and Alexander (22.41) turned in top five finishes in the 200 meter dash as well, claiming second and third respectively. Wood (22.69) finished seventh in the 200. The Dolphins continued their strong sprinting in the 400 meter dash where Drew Domoto (52.30) finished second behind USF's Brian Wilson (51.42).

In the longer distances, JU's Rowan Irons (1:58.20) finished third in the 800 meters and Israel Morales (9:18.05) picked up a sixth in the 3,000 meters.
