Men's Cross Country Competes at Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University men's cross country team finished in 15th place at the Gator Cross Country Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida Saturday morning.

The squad finished the 8,000-meter run with 393 total points. Kevin Barry led the Dolphins and finished 63rd overall with a 28:55 time. Rowan Irons followed with a 29:39 mark and 81st finish.

Other JU scorers were Alan Lindell (94th, 30:23), Jeremy Berven (113th, 31:40) and Philip Armijo (34th, 34:02). The top three finishers, Chris Duncan (24:42), Rob Evans (25:37) and Rolando Ortiz (25:39) were from the University of Florida

Host Florida won the Invitational with 25 total points, followed by Bethune-Cookman College (56), Florida International (79), University of Miami (116) and Florida Southern rounded out the top five with 164 points.

The Dolphins return to action when they travel to Tampa, Fla. on Oct. 13 for the USF Florida Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships hosted by the University of South Florida.
