Women's Cross Country Finishes Second at USF Championships

TAMPA, Fla. - The Jacksonville University women's cross country team finished in second place, while the men came in 16th at the USF Florida Intercollegiate Championships Friday evening, hosted by the University of South Florida.

The women's team finished the 5-K race with 103 total points. Senior Adriana Campos led the Dolphins with an 11th place finish in 19:00. April Nudo-Patterson, a senior, was right behind with a 19:23 time and a 18th place finish, while senior Asjah Muhammad came in 27th with a 19:55 mark.

Other JU scorers were Ayesha Muhammad (28th, 19:56) and Christine Weiher (34th, 20:11). Also participating in the competition were Chelsea Knight (40th, 20:21), Jennifer Takach (74th, 21:18), Alexis Wieroniey (82nd, 21:37), Laura Kunak (107th, 22:24), Kate Benson (113th, 22:37) and Laura Winn (131st, 23:25).

On the men's side JU finished the 8-K with 479 total points. Kevin Barry led the Dolphins with an 89th place finish in 30:02. Rowan Irons followed with an 114th place finish in 30:54. Other scorers were Alan Lindell (136th, 32:02), Jeremy Berven (140th, 32:13) and Kellie Roberts (178th, 36:50).

Florida State swept the championships with 23 total points on the women's side and 28 total points on the men's side.

The Dolphins return to action when they travel to Buies Creek, N.C. on Saturday, Oct. 28 for the TAAC Cross Country Championships.
