Women's Cross Country Finishes Third at TAAC Championships

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Jacksonville University women's cross country team finished in third place, while the men came in eighth at the Trans America Athletic Cross Country Championships Saturday morning, hosted by the Campbell University.

The women's team finished the 5-K race with 68 total points. Senior Adriana Campos (Lake Park, Fla.) led the Dolphins with a third place finish in 18:23. Senior April Nudo-Patterson (Jacksonville, Fla.) was right behind with a 18:56 time and a eighth place finish. Both Campos and Nudo-Patterson earned all-conference honors with their top 10 finishes.

Other JU scorers were Christine Weiher (16th, 19:20), Asjah Muhammad (18th, 19:27) and Chelsea Knight (23rd, 19:47). Also competing were, Jennifer Takach (35th, 20:19), Ayesha Muhammad (36th, 20:24) and Alexis Wieroniey (37th, 20:26).

On the men's side, JU finished the 8-K with 220 total points. Kevin Barry (Zephyerhills, Fla.) led the Dolphins with an 38th place finish in 28:37. Rowan Irons (Durban, South Africa) followed with a 40th place finish in 28:51. Other scorers were Jeremy Berven (51st, 30:18), Alan Lindell (53rd, 31:14), and Kellie Roberts (59th, 32:38).

Georgia State won the TAAC championships with 51 total points on the women's side, while Samford won with 37 total points on the men's side.

The Dolphins return to action when they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Saturday, Nov. 11 for the District III Cross Country Championships.
