Track & Field Competes At Hurricane Invitational

Coral Gables, Fla. - Monique Tubbs (Holbrook, Mass.) placed second in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.61 to pace the track and field team at the Hurricane Invitational Saturday afternoon in Coral Gable, Fla.

Tubbs, who won the indoor national championship in the 60-meter dash a week ago, also placed 12th in the 200-meter dash while Tiffany Wright (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) placed 21st (25.45). Wright also finished 11th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.16.

Safiya Davy (Mitchville, Md.) finished third in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line with a time of 14.10, and Andrea Pressley (Temple Hills, Md.) followed with a seventh-place finish (14.39).

Tubbs, Davy, Pressley and Wright brought home a second-place finish for the Dolphins in the 4x100-meter dash with a time of 46.11.

In the women's 400-meter hurdles, Laura Winn (Wilmington, Mass.) placed ninth (1:05.38), while Tamsin Anstey (North Vancouver, British Columbia) finished 14th with a 1:06.6 finish.

Lysa Lee (Roswell, Ga.) competed in the women's long jump and placed seventh with a distance of 5.40 meters.

In the men's 100-meter sprint, Kenneth Baxter (New York, N.Y.) paced all Dolphin runners with a 10.78 time to place ninth. Brent Alexander (Tampa, Fla.), Jon Underhill (Plantation, Fla.) and Boshawn Mack (Clearwater, Fla.) finished 14th, 18th and 41st, respectively.

Baxter had his best finish of the day in the 200-meter dash when he place sixth (21.38). Alexander finished 20th while Mack placed 41st.

The Dolphins return to action on March 21st when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to compete in FSU relays.
