April 8, 2001
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The women's track and field team set school records in 4x400 meter relay and the 800-meter run, while the 4x100 relay team and April Nudo-Patterson (Jacksonville, Fla) placed first in their races Sunday afternoon at the Florida Track & Field Challenge in Gainesville, Fla.
The Dolphins' relay team of Andrea Pressley (Temple Hills, Md.), Monique Tubbs (Holbrook, Mass.), Tiffany Wright (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) and anchorwoman Safiya Davy (Mitchville, Md.) took first-place in the 4x100 meter relay, crossing the finish line at 46.13, and later set a school-record in the 4x400 with a time of 3:50.64, which was good enough for third-place.
Asjah Muhammad's (Indianapolis, Ind.) time of 2:15.27 in the 800-meter run broke another JU record for the day and placed her fourth overall.
JU's other top finish of the day came from Nudo-Patterson in the 5,000-meter run with a finishing time of 19:18.00.
Tubbs, who won the NCAA Indoor 60-meter dash championship in March, finished fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.89).
The Dolphins return to action on April 20, when the men's and women's squads travel to Orlando, Fla., for the Trans America Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships.
