JU's Andrea Pressley Finishes 16th At NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. - JU sophomore heptathlete, Andrea Pressley (Temple Hills, Md.), scored 5,083 points to place 16th at the 2001 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships Saturday night in Eugene, Ore.

Pressley scored 1,916 points in the final day of competition. In the long jump, Pressley entered a mark of 5.43 meters, threw the javelin 32.86 meters and ran the 800-meter run at time of 2:28.97.

Austra Skujyte of Kansas State won the event with a score of 5,857, and was followed by Michelle Perry of UCLA (5,759 points) and Aja Frary of San Diego State (5,751 points), respectively.

Pressley was the second Dolphin to compete for a national title in the 2001 season. Fellow sophomore Monique Tubbs (Holbrook, Mass.) won the 60-meter dash at the 2001 NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in March.
