JU's Andrea Pressley In 12th Place After Day One

EUGENE, Ore. - JU sophomore Andrea Pressley (Temple Hills, Md.) is currently in 12th place in the heptathlon, with a score of 3,166 points, after the first day of competition at the 2001 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Eugene, Ore.

Pressley is only 118 points out of eighth place. The top eight finishers in the heptathlon will garner All-America status.

The competition began with the 100-meter hurdles, where Pressley earned 954 points with a time of 14.17. The second and third events were the high jump (1.55 meters) and shot put (12.33 meters), respectively. The first day of heptathlon ended with the running of the 200-meter dash (25.39).

The heptathlon will conclude today with the javelin throw at 8 p.m., ET.
