JU Women's Cross Country Finishes Fourth at GSU Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. - Kate Schwarz finished in 12th place among Division I participants and Chelsea Knight followed in 13th to help the JU women to a fourth place finish in Georgia State Invitational, Saturday afternoon. The JU men's cross country team claimed a seventh place finish in their race.

The women's team finished the 5-K race with 97 points behind Schwarz and Knight's performances. Schwarz finished the course in 20:10, while Knight finished in a close 20:14.

Other JU scorers were Alexis Wieroniey (19th, 20:32), Tasmin Anstey (26th, 20:57), Jennifer Takach (27th, 21:03), Christina Bensi (28th, 21:04) and Laura Winn (37th, 22:15). The Dolphin men finished the 8-K in seventh place, with a total of 186 points. JU was led by Rowan Irons' 34th place finish and Tony Strother's 35th place finish. Both runners finished the race in 30:50. Jeremy Berven finished in a close 36th in 30:51. Other scorers were Scott Cook (37th, 31:02), Brian Boone (44th, 34:30) and Drew Domoto (45th, 36:15).

Meet host, Georgia State, took first place in both the men and women's races. The men won with a total of 18 points, while the women tallied just 35 in the victory.

The Dolphins return to action on Saturday, September 22, as they travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to compete in the Seminole Invitational.
