JU Women's Cross Country Places Tenth at Seminole Invite

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Dolphin women's cross country team finished in 10th place, with 229 points and the men's team finished in 12th place with 330, Saturday morning, at the Seminole Invite.

The women's team finished the 5-K race with 229 points, with an average finishing time of 25:15.70. Chelsea Knight led the Dolphins, finishing 37th among Division-I competitors with a time of 24:19.91.

Other JU scorers were Alexis Wieroniey (40th, 24:31.73), Tamsin Anstey (46th, 25:12.87), Christina Bensi (55th, 25:59.14) and Jennifer Takach (51st, 26:14.84). Laura Winn (57th, 26:16.38) and Patti Jenkins (62nd, 26:36.05) also participated.

The Dolphin men finished 12th in the 8-K race, with a total of 330 points. JU was led by Jeremy Berven's (30:19.51) 61st place finish. Rowan Irons (30:48.44) and Scott Cook (31:29.73) followed close behind with 63rd and 65th place finishes respectively. Other Dolphins to score were Tony Strother (69th, 32:15.37) and Brian Boone (72nd, 25:26.92). Drew Domoto also participated, finishing in 73rd place, with a time of 35:30.26.

South Florida took first place in women's race, with 33 points and an average time of 22:03.87. Florida won the men's race, with a total of 25 points, while averaging 25:03.06.

The Dolphins return to action on Saturday, October 6, when they travel to Orlando, Fla. to participate in the Walt Disney World Cross-Country Classic.
