JU's Monique Tubbs Provisionally Qualifies for Nationals at Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Junior NCAA 60-meter dash champ Monique Tubbs (Holbrook, Mass.) ran a 6.89 in her 55-meter dash preliminary heat Sunday afternoon at the Gator Invitational. Tubbs time was the fastest of the meet and provisionally qualifies her for the NCAA National Indoor Track meet, which will be held in Fayetteville, Ark. on March 8-9.

The Dolphins also got season-best performances from Dani Ivanochko, who jumped 1.61m in the high jump, freshmen Patti Jenkins (Orlando, Fla.) and Christina Bensi (Troy, N.Y.), who ran 5:28.57 and 5.35.96 respectively in the mile run. Chelsea Knight (Ocean Grove, N.J.) and Alexis Wieroney (Owings, Md.) also ran season-best times in the 3,000-meter run, finishing with times of 10:54.16 and 11:16.51 respectively.

The Dolphins return to the track on Thursday, Feb. 28, when they compete in the Gator Fast Times meet in Gainesville.
