Lysa Lee Sets New JU Triple Jump Record

March 23, 2002

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Senior Lysa Lee (Roswell, Ga.) broke the JU women's triple jump record with a jump of 38'11 1/2" on her way to a third-place finish at the FSU Relays held in Tallahassee. Lee held JU's previous record of 38'1 3/4", which she set at the A-Sun Championships in 2000. This marks the second straight week in which a JU athlete has set a new horizontal jump record.

The Dolphins got a strong performance Tamsin Anstey (North Vancouver, British Columbia), who ran a season-best 4:56.92 in the 1500 meter-run to finish 14th in a field of 44.

Alexis Wieroniey (Owings, Md.) and Chelsea Knight (Ypsilanti, Mich.) also provided solid efforts for JU as both ran season-bests in the 5,000 meter-run, finishing in 12th and 13th respectively.

Standouts Monique Tubbs (Holbrook, Mass.) finished first in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes, while Safiya Davy (Mitchellville, Md.) claimed a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and Andrea Pressley (Temple Hills, Md.) finished fifth in the Shot Put, each competing unattached.

The Dolphins return to action on Wednesday, March 27, when they travel to Gainesville to compete in the Florida Relays.
