Pressley and Tubbs Lead Women's Track At Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Junior Andrea Pressley (Temple Hills, Md.) posted a season-best 5,341 points to finish second in the heptathlon at the Florida Relays this weekend in Gainesville, while junior All-American Monique Tubbs (Holbrook, Mass.) placed second in the 100-meter dash after running a 11.56. Both Pressley and Tubbs competed unattached.

Pressley used a strong second-day in the long jump (18'-10.75"), javelin throw (124'-06") and 800-meter run (2:24.12) to hold off third-place Jamie Pew of UCF by one point. Tacita Bass of South Carolina finished first in the heptathlon with 20 points. Danielle Carruthers of Indiana won the 100-meter dash with an 11.54 in the finals.

JU's Safiya Davy (Mitchellville, Md.) placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a 13.61, while Tubbs also finished 11th in the 200-meter dash with a 24.35 in the finals after running a 23.70 in the heats. Lysa Lee (Roswell, Ga.) finished sixth out of 18 in the triple jump with 11.60m in the finals after jumping 11.91m in the heats.

Other Dolphins finishers included Kate Clarke (Dallas, Texas) in the 400-meter dash (25th - 57.58), Tamsin Anstey (North Vancouver, British Columbia) in the 1,500-meter run 26th - (4:56.04), Tiffany Wright (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) in the 100-meter dash (38th - 12.42). Anstey also finished 32nd in the 800-meter run (2:23.43).
