Feb. 18, 2003

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University track team has earned the No. 23 ranking in the latest Trackwire Women's Top 25 poll. The Dolphins received eight points and share the No. 23 ranking with Rice, Mississippi State and Washington State. Senior sprinter Monique Tubbs (Boston, Mass.) has moved up to No. 2 in the 60-meter Dandy Dozen after her record-setting performance in the 55-meter dash at the Gator Invitational on Feb. 9.

Tubbs, who is the 2001 60-meter NCAA Indoor National Champion, set a new school record with her time of 6.75 in the 55-meter at the Gator Invitational, finishing two-hundredths of a second behind top-ranked Muna Lee of Louisiana State. Her time in the 55-meter automatically qualifies her for the USA and NCAA Indoor Championships in March.

JU returns to action hosting the Hampton Inn/JU Invitational at the Ashley Sports Complex on Saturday, March 1. For more information about the JU Invitational please log on to judolphins.com and visit the track team page.
