Track's Monique Tubbs Qualifies for 60-Meter Dash Final at NCAA Indoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Jacksonville University senior sprinter Monique Tubbs (Boston, Mass.) won her 60-meter dash qualifying heat with a time of 7.24 Friday and qualified third overall for the finals of the 60-meter at the NCAA Indoor National Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center at the University of Arkansas. Tubbs' time was the fourth fastest overall and she will enter the finals as a third seed.

Tubbs, the 2001 NCAA 60-meter Indoor National Champion, finished first in Heat 2, ahead of Rachelle Boone of Indiana and Lolo Jones of LSU. LSU's Muna Lee qualified first overall with a time of 7.15 to win Heat 1, while Miami's Lauryn Williams qualified second overall with a time of 7.22 to capture Heat 3.

The finals of the 60-meter dash will commence at 7:05 p.m. (CT) Saturday at the Randal Tyson Track Center at the University of Arkansas.
