Track Impressive at FSU Relays; Achieves Three NCAA Regional Qualifying Marks

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University track team had an outstanding day of competition at the FSU Relays Friday with juniors Monique Tubbs (Boston, Mass.) and Safiya Davy (Mitchellville, Md.) achieving NCAA regional qualifying marks at Mike Long Track. The Dolphins' 4x400-meter relay team also reached an NCAA regional qualifying time, setting a new school-record in the process.

Tubbs captured the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.61, while junior Tiffany Wright (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) finished fifth with a time of 12.21. Davy earned her qualifying mark in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing third with a time of 13.99. JU's 4x400-meter relay team of Andrea Pressley (Upper Marlboro, Md.), Tubbs, Lakisha Brooks (Upper Marlboro, Md.) and Kate Clarke (Arlington, Texas) placed third with a time of 3:44.71, shattering the old mark by five seconds.

Pressley had a personal-best throw of 40.14 meters in the javelin, which was good for fifth place, while also placing ninth in the 100-meter hurdles. Freshman Keiona Frenche (Riverdale, Md.) finished second in the 800-meter with a time of 2:17.67, while senior Laura Winn (Wilmington, Mass.), sophomore Patti Jenkins (Orlando, Fla.) and freshman Rachel Garvin (Denton, Texas) finished 3rd, 4th and 5th, respectively, in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

In the 400-meter, Clarke and Brooks finished 5th and 6th, respectively, with times of 57.30 and 57.73.
