GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University junior Safiya Davy (Mitchellville, Md.) shattered her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.56 to finish second at the Florida Women's Track and Field Classic at Percy Beard Track Sunday in Gainesville, Fla. Junior sprinter Monique Tubbs (Boston, Mass.) captured the 100-meter dash, while junior Andrea Pressley (Upper Marlboro, Md.) had a season-best mark in the shot put.

Davy set a school record in the 100-meter hurdles just three weeks ago with a mark of 13.64 at the A-Sun Championships in Orlando, where she secured her third conference title in the event in three years of competition. Davy's time improves both her NCAA National and Regional qualifying times in the 100-meter hurdles, while also placing ninth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.35.

Tubbs won the 100-meter easily, but due to a timing malfunction in the finals her winning time was unknown, while junior Tiffany Wright (Lauderdale Lake, Fla.) finished second in the second heat with a time of 12.25. Pressley finished third in the javelin with a mark of 35.95m (117-11'), while placing ninth and setting a new season best in the shot put with a toss of 12.92m (42-4'3/4").

Senior Kate Clarke (Arlington, Texas) finished seventh in the 400-meter with a time of 56.95, while placing eighth in the 200-meter. Freshman Keiona Frenche (Riverdale, Md.) finished 10th in the 800-meter run, while fellow freshmen Lindsey Moffenbier (McDonough, Ga.) and Karen Edmonds (Green Cove Springs, Fla.) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 5000, with Edmonds setting a new season best at 18:34.42.
