June 5, 2003

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - - The JU track team has signed hurdler and long jumper Ashley Davis from West Palm Beach, Fla., to a national letter of intent, head coach Ron Grigg announced Thursday.

A recent graduate of Suncoast High School, Davis posted personal best times of 14.20 in the 100-meter hurdles and 14.09 wind-aided. She also has a personal best in the long jump of 18-feet, 8 inches.

"We are excited that Ashley has chosen to come to JU," Grigg said. "Coach Saunders at Suncoast High School ensures all of his athletes are students of the sport. I was most impressed by Ashley's passion for track and field, which will help her make an immediate impact at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships."

Davis joins sprinter Natasha Stevenson (Haverhill, Mass.), shot putter Stephanie Jeffers (Barnstable, Mass.), sprinter Ashley Williams (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and distance runner Stacey Ollar (Jacksonville/Mandarin) as a member of the 2003 signing class.
