July 13, 2004

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Andrea Clark, an NCAA regional qualifier in the javelin as a freshman from Portland State, has transferred to Jacksonville University, head coach Ron Grigg announced today.

Clark, a native of Great Falls, Mont., has three years of eligibility remaining with the Dolphins, after spending last season at Portland State University. She qualified for regionals at the Drake Relays with her toss of 145-8 in the javelin. The mark was good for fourth at the prestigious event.

"Andrea will help the JU women's track and field program towards its goal of having a well-rounded squad of regional qualifiers," Grigg said. "We look for student-athletes who will perform at a high level at the Atlantic Sun Championships and who are potential national qualifiers."

Clark had good showings throughout the year for the Vikings, finishing fifth at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships (140-0) and taking second at both the Mt. Hood (Ore.) Relays and the Hornet Open. She closed out the year finishing 21st in the javelin at the NCAA West Regional (135-9).

At Great Falls High School, Clark earned four letters in track and three letters in volleyball. She also stood out on the basketball court, earning first team all-conference honors while being named team MVP.
