Women's Track Opens Outdoor Season at 2005 UCF Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. - Freshman Fallon Heffernan (Neptune Beach, Fla.) set a new track record while winning the 2000-meter steeplechase to lead the Dolphins in their first outdoor meet of the season, the UCF Invitational. Heffernan clocked in at 7:07.24, topping the former record set by UCF's Andrea Morrow by nearly nine seconds, to take first in her first collegiate outdoor race.
Sophomore Andrea Clark (Valdosta, Ga.) got her first win as a Dolphin, tossing the javelin 135-5 to beat the competition by nearly 20 feet. Sophomore Ashley Williams (Oklahoma City, Okla.) ranked second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.34, while junior Lindsey Moffenbier (McDonough, Ga.) finished second in the 5000-meter run (18:55.38). Other Dolphin notables included sophomore Janita Ocana (Jacksonville/Ed White) ranking second in the long jump (19-2 ½), sophomore Stacey Ollar (Jacksonville/Mandarin) coming in second in the 3000m run (11:08.24) and sophomore Stephanie Jeffers (Marston Mills, Mass.) finishing second in the shot put (45-0 ¼).
JU heads to Tallahassee, Fla., for the FSU Relays on March 18-19.
