Track & Field Earns Two Wins at Golden Knights Twilight

ORLANDO, Fla. - Sophomore Janita Ocana (Jacksonville/Ed White) set a new JU record in the long jump while two other Dolphins won events to lead the JU track and field squad at the Golden Knight Twilight, hosted by UCF. Ocana had the only wind legal mark of the competition, leaping 19-9, surpassing the previous mark of 19-6 1/2, set by Dani Ivanochko in 2002.

Freshman Fallon Heffernan (Neptune Beach, Fla.) outpaced the field by nearly 15 seconds while winning the 3000-meter steeplechase with her time of 11:00.96. Sophomore Stephanie Jeffers (Marston Hills, Mass.) took home the win in the shot put with a toss of 46-5 1/4, defeating the field by 10 inches.

The Dolphins compete in the FSU Twilight on May 7 in Tallahassee, Fla.
