May 5, 2005

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University track and field team has signed long jumper/sprinter Natasha Harvey (West Haven, Connecticut), middle distance runner Alison Ritter (Weston, Mass.) and distance runner Allison Bushey (West Chester, Pa.) to national letters of intent for 2005-06, head coach Ron Grigg announced today. Harvey and Ritter won New England Indoor Championship events in 2005. Former JU four-time All-American Monique Tubbs (Holbrook, Mass.), along with current Dolphins Natasha Stevenson (Haverhill, Mass.) and Stephanie Jeffers (Marston Mills, Mass.), won titles in that same meet before coming to JU.

Harvey, who competes at Career (Conn.) High, ranked fifth in the country during indoors in the long jump with a top mark of 19-8 1/4. She also ranked in the top 20 in the 55-meter and 60-meter hurdles. She won the Connecticut indoor titles in the long jump and 4x200m relay before winning the New England Championship in the 55-meter hurdles.

Ritter, from Weston (Mass.) High, ranked in the top 30 in the country in the indoor 1000-meter run, clocking her best time in 2:59.54. She won the New England title in the indoor 1000m after being named Dual County League Cross Country All-Star in the fall, with a top 5K time of 19:35.9.

Bushey, a Henderson (Pa.) High product, has clocked her top 800-meter run at 2:20.7, while running a 5K in 20:00.01 during the 2004 cross country season. Her team finished third at the Pennsylvania state cross country meet this past fall.

The Dolphins travel to Tallahassee for the FSU Twilight Saturday evening at Mike Long Track.
