Stephanie Jeffers Sets School Record in Shot Put at Georgia Tech Invite

May 14, 2005

ATLANTA - Sophomore Stephanie Jeffers (Marston Mills, Mass.) set a new school record in the shot put at the Georgia Tech Invitational as the Dolphins continue preparations for the NCAA East Regional in Manhattan, N.Y., on May 27-28. Jeffers, who finished eighth in the event, threw the shot 47-10, breaking her previous top mark by over three inches, set earlier this year at the USF Invitational.

Jeffers, who scored in three events at the Atlantic Sun Championships earlier this season, is one of three Dolphins scheduled to compete in the NCAA East Regional in two weekends. Sophomore Janita Ocana (Jacksonville/Ed White) advanced into the long jump field with her win in the A-Sun Championship, while freshman Fallon Heffernan (Neptune Beach/Fletcher) qualified for the 3000-meter steeplechase.
