Women's Track Closes Season In NCAA East Regional

NEW YORK CITY - Freshman Fallon Heffernan (Neptune Beach/Fletcher) finished 21st in the 3000-meter steeplechase to lead the JU women's track and field team in the NCAA East Regional Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island Saturday evening. Heffernan, the school record holder in the event, finished in 10:49.67, falling just .03 seconds shy of setting a new personal best in her first regional event.

Sophomore Stephanie Jeffers (Marston Mills, Mass) placed 13th in the shot put with a throw of 45-6 1/2, improving from a 29th-place showing a year ago. Fellow sophomore Janita Ocana (Jacksonville/Ed White) finished 19th in the long jump with a leap of 18-10 in her first NCAA meet.
