Cross county teams picked 7th and 10th in A-Sun preseason polls

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- - The JU women's cross country team was picked to finish seventh, while the JU men's cross country team was picked to finish 10th in the Atlantic Sun conference preseason coaches poll announced by the league office today.

Belmont was picked to finish first in both the men and women's polls.

The Belmont women's cross-country team had 116 points in their poll. Florida Atlantic is picked to finish in second place with 102 points. Campbell, Kennesaw State and North Florida round out the top-five.

East Tennessee State is picked to finish sixth followed by Jacksonville with 57 points. Lipscomb, Gardner-Webb, Mercer, and Stetson make up the rest of the women's poll.

The Belmont men's cross country team had 117 points, while Kennesaw State trailed by 23 points with 94. Campbell, East Tennessee State and North Florida wrap up the top-five.

Gardner-Webb, Lipscomb, Florida Atlantic, Mercer and Jacksonville make up the bottom five, while Stetson is picked to finish last.

The Dolphins women's cross-country team returns Fallon Heffernan and Lindsey Moffenbier, while the men's team returns Jeff Wolf.

Heffernan last season finished in the top-five in two out of four meets and Moffenbier last season finished in the top-25 in three out of five meets. Wolf was in the top-40 in four out of five meets last season.

The Dolphins start the 2005 season at the FSU Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla. On September 17. The men will run at 7:30 a.m., while the women run at 8:30 a.m.
