Cross country performs strong at JU short course duals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- - Sophomore Fallon Heffernan finished in first place for the women, while sophomore Trebor DeVerter paced the men in 11th place as the Jacksonville cross country teams finished strong at the JU Short Course Duals Friday afternoon.
Heffernan finished with a time of 11:33 to take the top spot. Senior Lindsay Moffenbier finished 17 seconds behind Heffernan to take second place with a time of 11:50. Senior Rachel Garvin ranked fourth (12:02), while freshman Danielle Coyle placed 10th with 13:08. Freshman Allison Bushey placed 15th with a time of 13:46 to round out the women.
On the men's side, DeVerter paced the Dolphins ranking 11th (19:23). Sophomore Charlie Allen took 12th place with a time of 19:52. Sophomore Jeff Wolf finished in 16th place with 20:46, while senior Kevin Stuart ranked 17th (21:31). Junior John Hoffman finished in 19th with 21:53, sophomore Josh Barrett ranked 20th (22:41) and junior Alan Jensen placed 21st with a time of 23:02 to wrap up the men.
In team results, the Dolphin women took all of there team matches against Florida A&M, Savannah State and Bethune-Cookman. The Dolphin men defeated Savannah State head-to-head action.
The Dolphins return to action on Friday, Oct. 14 as they compete in the Stetson Hatter Invitational in DeLand, Fla. at 4 p.m.
