Women's cross country wraps up season at NCAA South Regional

GAINESVILLE, Fla.- - Sophomore Fallon Heffernan placed 39th to help the Jacksonville women's cross country team finish 19th on Saturday afternoon in their final meet of the season at the NCAA South Regional in Gainesville, Fla.

"Today was a nice conclusion for a very successful season in the JU cross country program," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "Our team ran well today and I'm proud of all the girls' efforts this season."

The Dolphins as a team finished ahead of former Atlantic sun rivals UCF and Troy, while also placing ahead of in-state foe Miami.

Heffernan paced the Dolphin runners with a time of 22:14.77. Senior Lindsey Moffenbier finished 80th with a time of 23:09.20, while senior Rachel Garvin ranked 93rd (23:26.53) in her final met as a Dolphin. Sophomore Danielle Coyle placed 162nd with 25:37.71. Junior Stacey Ollar battled through tendonitis to finish 171st with a time of 27:23.26.

"Our seniors (Lindsay and Rachel) ran really well in their final meet," Grigg said. "Fallon did another great job by finishing as our top runner, while Danielle also finished strong. Stacy pulled off a courageous effort by fighting through tendonitis to help us complete our team score."

The Dolphins will now start preparations for the 2006 Track & Field season which begins in January.
