Track and Field adds runner for the 2006-07 season

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- - The Jacksonville track and field team announced the signing of Tiffanie Saxton (Tampa, Fla.) for the 2006-07 season.

"Tiffanie is a great addition to the JU track program," said head coach Ron Grigg. "She embodies all that we hope for in our team members. She is an outstanding student and a talented athlete who comes from a great family and an accomplished high school team."

Saxton, currently a senior at Wharton High School, helped the Wildcats finish first in the 800-meter run, 800-meter relay and the 400-meter relay at the district championship as a junior. The 800-relay team also finished second at the state championship. She set school records in the 800-meter run, 1600-meter relay and the 800-meter relay.

Saxton is also a member of the Wildcats cross country team. As a senior, she placed 21st to guide her team to a second place finish at the state championship. She set the school record with a time of 19:28 to finish fifth at the regional championship in her junior season.

The Dolphins open the 2006 track and field season Sunday, Jan. 15 at the Florida Intercollegiate in Gainesville, Fla.
