Jan. 18, 2006
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Freshman Natasha Harvey finished in the top five in two events at the Florida Intercollegiate for the Jacksonville University indoor track team to be named Atlantic Sun Conference "Track Athlete of the Week" as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
In her first collegiate meet, Harvey ran a personal-best 8.20 in the 55-meter hurdles to finish third among collegians. She finished second among collegians in the long jump after posting a 19-04.25. The mark also currently leads the conference.
"Natasha did a nice job in her first collegiate meet," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "Her hurdle race was a personal best. Because it is early in the season, we used a short approach in the long jump and she jumped right at her lifetime mark. We are eager to see what the future holds with her."
The Dolphins return to action this Saturday as they travel to Gainesville, Fla., to compete in the Florida Invitational.
