Track and Field shows solid marks at the USF Invitational

TAMPA. Fla.- - Final Results for USF Invitational

For the second consecutive week, the Jacksonville University track and field team earns five first place finishes to complete a solid showing at the USF Invitational in Tampa, Fla. on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Janita Ocana led all Dolphins runners by picking up two first place marks She tallied a 19' 0.75" to take the Long Jump and finished with a 12:28 in the 100-meter dash. She also took second place in the 200-meter dash.

Freshman Janel Grooms took first place in the 400-meter hurdles for the second straight week.

Junior Ashley Williams won the 400-meter dash with a 56.34, while fellow teammate Grooms placed third in the event.

Natasha Harvey continues her stellar freshman campaign for the Dolphins as she tallied a 14:28 to finish first in the 100-meter dash.

Other top Dolphin performers were senior Lindsey Moffenbier who placed second overall and first among collegians in the 3000-meter run with a 10:34.91. Junior Lindsay George finished in second place, first among collegians, in the javelin throw. Senior Keiona Frenche placed first among collegians with a second place mark of 2:21.00 in the 800-meter run.

"For the second consecutive week, the runners had to face strong winds," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "Natasha's hurdle time into that head wind is very good and Lindsey Moffenbier continues to have a good senior season with a nice PR in the 3000-meters. Ashley Williams ran a nice race plan for her win, while Janel Grooms also ran a nice 400/400h double. Next week we compete in Miami and it will be a good test for us before spring break."

The Dolphins compete again on Saturday, March 18 at the Hurricane Invitational in Miami, Fla.
