Natasha Harvey earns second Atlantic Sun "Track Athlete of the Week" honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- - Freshman Natasha Harvey was named the Atlantic Sun Conference "Track Athlete of the Week" after breaking the school record in the long jump for the second time this season at the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational on April 22, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

This is Harvey's second A-Sun "Track Athlete of the Week" honor after earning the award on January 18.

"Natasha has exceeded all of our freshman expectations," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "Now she is looking forward to representing JU at NCAA regionals, NCAA nationals, and US Juniors Nationals. Hopefully she will also be representing the United Sates at the World Junior Championships in Beijing, China."

At the LSU Alumni Invtational, Harvey broke the school-record in the long jump by producing a regional qualifying jump of 20'10" (6.35m) to finish in third place.

Her jump at the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational is now tied for 10th on the NCAA national list, fifth in the east region and second on the world juniors list for athletes 19 and under. Harvey also ranks 12th in the Dandy Dozen for the long jump.

This season, Harvey has qualified for regionals in the 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles and 4X100-meter relay.

The Dolphins race again on Saturday in Tallahassee, Fla. at the FSU Twilight.
