JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - All the preparation and practice will look to pay off for the Jacksonville University track and field team on Friday as they compete in the NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C. on the campus of North Carolina A&T.

"This is our largest group of regional qualifiers to date and more than half of our team qualified for the trip to Greensboro," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "We have qualifiers in every discipline: distance, throws, jumps, sprints, hurdles and relays. This speaks to the completeness of our program."

The Dolphins join a field of 112 schools from 17 states at the East Regional for a chance to advance to the NCAA Championships on June 7.

Eight Dolphin runners have qualified in 18 events at the regional. Junior Janita Ocana leads the Dolphins by qualifying for six events, while freshman Natasha Harvey has qualified for five. The Dolphins also had a team qualify for the 4X100 and 4X400-meter relays.

Harvey earned the Dolphins highest seed with a #2 ranking in the long jump after producing the nation's fourth-best jump at the FSU Twilight at 21'5.25." She also is seeded 31st in the 100-meter hurdles. Ocana picked up the Dolphins second highest seed in the 200-meter dash at 17th, while freshman Janel Grooms is ranked 21st in the 400-meter hurdles.

The East Regional will begin on Friday at noon with the field events.
