Natasha Harvey qualifies for the NCAA National Championships in the long jump
Freshman Natasha Harvey qualified for the NCAA National Championships in the long jump to help the Jacksonville University track and field team complete a solid day at the NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C. on Friday afternoon.

"Tasha jumped well in an incredibly deep region," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "It is a great accomplishment for a freshman to qualify for nationals."

Harvey placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 21'1.25. She also placed 23rd in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles.

Harvey, Janita Ocana, Simone Clark and Tissilli Rogers teamed up to finish 12th in the 4X100-meter relay with a 45.90 during the first day of competition.

Ocana placed 19th in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.36, while freshman Janel Grooms fell in the 400-meter hurdles, but courageously got up to complete the event.

Harvey will now go on to Sacramento, Calif and represent the Dolphins at the NCAA National Championships on Wednesday, June 7.
