Track and Field names Cetera Bunche as assistant coach

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University has hired Cetera Bunche as assistant track & field/cross country coach, it was announced by JU head coach Ron Grigg. Bunche comes to the Dolphins staff after a stellar track career at Hampton University.

"We are happy to add Cetera to our family," said Grigg. "Her competitive experiences will help our middle distance and distance group. Her enthusiasm and work ethic will be assets to our entire program."

While with Hampton, Bunche was instrumental in helping the Pirates to four- consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor Track Championships. She is also the program's indoor record holder for the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:51.67. Bunche also earned Hampton University's Women of the Year award during her senior year.

In the classroom, she boasted a 3.29 GPA and also represented the Pirates at the 2005 NCAA Leadership Conference.

Before moving to JU, Bunche worked for the Nike Adrenaline Internship program as a group intern after graduation. She monitored and analyzed several online runners message boards, while also leading a group presentation on how Nike can better connect with running consumer.

Prior to working at Nike, she was a Public Relations Intern for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association in Hampton, Va. While with the CIAA, she created media guides for the Men's and Women's Track & Field Championships and designed media packets for both conference basketball tournament. She also wrote press releases at the conference tournaments.

In the summer of 2005, Bunche worked for the Charlotte Bobcats of the NBA and helped with several areas of television production for the Carolina Sports Entertainment. She also worked two years with the National Sports Program as a camp counselor supervisor.

The Dolphins cross country teams are back in action on Saturday morning for the Florida Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
