JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After a weekend off from racing, the Jacksonville University women's and men's cross country teams will compete in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships in Boiling Springs, N.C. on Saturday.

"We have had 10 weeks of training and racing," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "We expect that our competition will be prepared to have their best effort of the year and we plan to do the same."

The women are paced this season by junior Fallon Heffernan, who has been the Dolphins top finisher in three of their four meets this season. She posted two top 10 marks, including a second place finish at the Stetson Hatter Invitational on Oct. 13.

Last season, Heffernan finished ninth at the A-Sun Championships with a time of 18:08 to earn all-conference accolades.

Also running well for the Dolphins this season is freshman Alyssa Deal. Deal led JU with a second place mark in the season opener and ran a 19:02.72 place to sixth at the FSU Invitational on Oct. 8.

Junior Charlie Allen, also a member of the Dolphins rowing squad, has led the men's team in all three of their meets.

The race for the women starts at 9 a.m., while the men run at 10 a.m.
